Hearing
Lower, move, protect
Loud sound can damage hearing. Lower the level when you control it, increase distance when possible, and use correctly fitted protection when loud sound cannot be avoided.
NIDCD notes that musician earplugs are designed to reduce sound while preserving a more natural listening experience.
Voice
Hydrate, rest, use wisely
NIDCD recommends hydration, healthy habits, vocal rest, and wise voice use. Avoid trying to overpower a loud room with the unamplified voice.
Ongoing hoarseness or a significant voice change should not be normalized as the price of singing.
Body
Warm, vary, recover
Prepare the whole body, begin gently, vary demanding work, use breaks, and reassess technique or setup when discomfort appears.
BAPAM advises warm-up before skilled physical activity and gradual return after time away.
